This is a year-round, part-time position starting in September. Salary will be determined based on experience.
The worship service uses a blended style of music, including both traditional and contemporary music. The church has an excellent full pedal Allen digital organ and Kawai grand piano. Both of these instruments are well maintained and are regularly used during the service. Candidates that have strong keyboard skills but are not yet experienced on the organ will be considered, if they are willing to learn and improve their organist skills.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and performance of quality, worship-enhancing organ and piano music for worship services (one Sunday morning service each week).
- Serves as accompanist for the choir at weekly choir practices, for worship services, and two additional music programs.
- Serves as accompanist for the Praise Team, including practices (on the same evening as choir rehearsal) and worship services.
- Participates as a team member with the Minister and Music Director in the planning of smoothly integrated worship services.
- May be asked to provide music for weddings and funerals (for additional pay).
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Adequate knowledge of traditional and contemporary sacred music literature.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the use of an Allen digital organ.
- Skills in sight reading, part playing, and the playing of hymns and praise music.
- Ability to be sensitive to and flexible in accommodating changes during the services, should they arise.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others.
